Angler
  • 7,740 herdbook and milk recording cows

Performance: 8,369 kg milk, 4.72 % fat, 395 kg fat, 3,69 % protein, 301 kg protein

Since 140 years it is taken care of the breeding program of the Angler breed in Schleswig Holstein. In all those years the Angler breed could improve the performance and type traits of red breeds in many different countries.

Due to the current nourishment habits and the milk quota, the breeding managements goal is to rise the milk yield without diminishing the protein yield. Next to the astounding milk components, the Angler breed is also famous for its very high daily net gain, its prematurity and easy calvings, the excellent feet and leg with black claws and the small calf losses.

After several years of using the top Red Holstein genetic in the Angler breeding program, consolidation is taking place with the aim to reduce the Red Holstein blood amount in the population. Next to proven sires of the Angler breed, sires of the Swedish Red (SRB) and Danish Red (RDM) are used for breeding. However the selection of all bull dams and sires lays emphasis to maintain the strong natural advantages and the breeding progress of the Angler breed.
